It turns out that he lives about five streets away from me in Mason Avenue, which is a street decidedly more upmarket than my own. Its like a film in the way that every garden is framed by a little white fence and square front garden. One has a pond, two have bird tables and another has a large trampoline. Despite it being so near to me, I can count on one hand the number of times Ive been up this road, and Ive never normally taken any notice of my surroundings. It is a really beautiful part of town. Lane lives at number 38, a house that has no ponds or bird tables or trampolines, but instead a huge flowerbed full of hundreds of flowers I couldnt even begin to name.
